Frequently Asked Questions
We believe in transparency. If you have a question that isn't covered below, please reach out, we're here to help.
Why olive wood specifically? What's wrong with metal or ceramic?
Metal rusts even "rust-resistant" options eventually corrode in a wet bathroom environment and the rust stains your soap and your sink. Ceramic looks great but chips, breaks and doesn't drain as effectively as a raised wooden design. Olive wood is naturally dense, moisture-resistant, and antimicrobial. Properties that make it uniquely suited for a wet bathroom environment. It also ages well: the grain pattern deepens and the wood develops character over years of use rather than degrading.
What makes the grooved design different from a regular dish?
A flat dish that traps water is the fastest way to destroy a quality bar of soap. Soap left sitting in standing water between uses turns soft, dissolves unevenly and can last half as long as it should. The grooved design lifts the bar off the surface and lets water drain completely, so the bar dries between uses and stays firm.
How is olive wood naturally antibacterial?
Olive wood is one of the densest hardwoods available, its tight grain structure gives bacteria and moisture very little surface area to penetrate. It also contains naturally occurring polyphenols that have antimicrobial properties. This makes it far more hygienic in a wet environment than softer woods, which absorb water and become breeding grounds for mold over time.
Will it fit all bar sizes?
Yes. While it's designed as the perfect companion for our tallow soap bars, the solid wood platform accommodates any standard or oversized bar.
Does the wood require any special maintenance?
Because it is finished only with a natural protective oil and contains zero synthetic sealants, we recommend a quick rinse and air-dry if soap residue builds up. To keep the grain looking vibrant, you can rub it with couple drops of olive or coconut oil once every few months.
